Gary holds a degree in Commerce from the University of Kentucky. He began his insurance career selling life insurance while still in college. In 1969, he switched to the multi-line ranks by becoming a marketing representative for Meridian Mutual. He then managed an Indianapolis independent agency for the next 3-1/2 years. Gary became branch manager for the American Indemnity Insurance Group and remained in this position for four years. During this period he was a three-time winner of the President's Award from the IIA of Indiana, received the 1976 Indiana PIA "Fieldman of the Year Award", and obtained his CIC designation.
In 1979 Gary accepted the position of Vice President of Marketing for a Midwestern excess and surplus lines organization. He joined the LaRue Insurance Agency in 1983, assuming the responsibilities for commercial production and automation needs.
Gary has delivered numerous talks during his career to agency groups on agency-company relations and computers in the insurance agency, and has recently conducted seminars on insurance industry topics and was on the National Faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. He has chaired many committees for PIA of Indiana and has won both its "Chairman of the Year" and "Agent of the Year" awards.
Gary has specialized in artisan contractors and the manufactured housing industry for many years. Gary is a very active member of the Murat Shrine and has served as an officer in many of its organizations. He enjoys motorcycle riding as weather and time permits.
In 2013 Gary and his wife merged the LaRue Insurance Agency into the Morgan Insurance Group and have been a part of that team ever since. Gary is enjoying his fifth decade in the insurance industry.
